About XI Class Admission

The nationwide centralized system for getting into Class XI (HSC) after passing SSC.

Overview

What Is the XI Class Admission System?

XI Class Admission is the centralized online system used across Bangladesh to admit students into Class XI (the first year of HSC) after they pass SSC or equivalent. It is managed by the Intermediate & Secondary Education Boards under the Ministry of Education, and every applicant applies through a single official portal — xiclassadmission.gov.bd.

Instead of sitting a separate entrance exam for each college, students submit one application listing up to 10 college choices in order of preference. Seats are allocated purely on SSC GPA and merit. The result is a fair, transparent placement system covering 4,000+ colleges and 21+ lakh students annually.

Merit list publication, auto-migration process, seat confirmation, and final college enrollment — explained in detail.

Ranking Logic

How Merit Order Is Determined

Following the XI Class Admission Policy 2025, merit is computed based on SSC results, college seat capacity, applicant preferences, and quota eligibility. Each student is placed in exactly one college.

  • Primary ranking: SSC GPA — higher GPA gets priority.
  • Same GPA tie-break: total marks obtained. Madrasah, Technical, and BOU marks are equalized.
  • Science group: if total marks also tied — General Math + Higher Math/Biology, then English, Physics, Chemistry.
  • Humanities & Business: English, then Math, then Bangla marks in order.
  • Cross-group applicants: total marks first, then English → Math → Bangla.
  • School & College priority: own students get first right in their same group, then remaining seats open to outsiders.
Phase 1 Result

1st Merit List

  • Published after the 1st phase application window closes. This is the largest allocation round — most seats are filled here.
  • Each student is placed in exactly one college based on GPA, marks, preference order, and quota.
  • Results notified via SMS and viewable on the portal under the "Selection" menu.
  • Selected students must confirm within the deadline by paying BDT 335 — otherwise selection and application are both cancelled.
Phase 2 Result

2nd Merit List

  • Fills seats vacated by students who didn't confirm in Phase 1.
  • Students not selected in Phase 1 can re-apply without paying the fee again. New applicants must pay fresh.
  • Published alongside the 1st Migration Result.
  • Same confirmation rules: pay BDT 335 within deadline or lose your seat.
Phase 3 Result

3rd Merit List (Final)

  • Final allocation round for all remaining vacant seats.
  • Published alongside the 2nd Migration Result.
  • After this, no more new applications are accepted — remaining process is migration and final admission only.
Up to 3 Rounds

Auto-Migration (Preference Upgrade)

After confirmation, the system runs up to 3 automatic migration rounds. Migration always moves you upward — never down. It is based on your original preference list.

  • How it works: when a student above you doesn't confirm or migrates away, a seat opens at a college you ranked higher — and you're moved there automatically.
  • 1st Migration — published with the 2nd merit list. Moves Phase 1 confirmed students up.
  • 2nd Migration — published with the 3rd merit list. Another round of upward movement.
  • 3rd (Final) Migration — last round. After this, all seat assignments are permanent.
  • No action needed — confirmed students are automatically eligible. You don't re-confirm after migrating.
  • Opt-out available: if you're happy with your current placement and don't want to be moved, you can opt out from the portal.
Seat Confirmation

Selection Confirmation (নিশ্চায়ন)

How to confirm your seat after being selected in a merit list — and what happens if you do not.

Step-by-Step

How to Confirm Your Selection

  • Log in to xiclassadmission.gov.bd → click "Selection" to see your allocated college.
  • Pay BDT 335 (board registration + confirmation fee) via bKash, Nagad, or Rocket.
  • Save your confirmation slip — you'll need it for final college admission.
Important Rules

What Happens If You Don't Confirm?

  • Miss the deadline → your selection and entire application are both cancelled.
  • Cancelled students can re-apply in the next phase by paying a fresh application fee.
  • Once confirmed, you stay eligible for auto-migration — no re-confirmation needed after each round.
  • Voluntary cancellation is permanent — you cannot re-apply in this session at all.
